I was looking for some projects to do on the blog with fabric scraps, and I found this awesome tutorial from Stitched by Crystal, and I decided to feature it on my blog since I used it! This project is so easy to do for beginning sewers, (like me). Thanks Crystal! |
Supplies:
Fabric Scissors
Fabric of any color for the actual bow part
Accenting color for the middle part of the bow
Sewing Machine, (could hand stitch, though sewing machine is easier).
Any color thread

First, I cut a 7" by 3" strip of fabric with my fabric scissors. Next, I sewed it in half. This is just a simple straight stitch.
As you will notice, this will make a tube that is really hard to sew if not ironed, so I ironed it. Next, I folded the ends in and sewed it right in the middle. This fabric was a little thicker, so I just hot glued it, but for most fabrics, it will work just fine. Finally, I glued a 1" by half an inch piece of fabric around the middle of the bow. You have to pinch it a little to get the "bow" look, so make sure you do that. And that's it! You're done with your bow! I just used a bobby pin inside of the loop around the middle of the bow to put it in my hair! |
